The trip

Kashmir's classic circuit in four days, built around three very different moods: the meadows and river valleys of Pahalgam, the high altitude of Gulmarg, and the gardens and waterways of Srinagar. It starts with the drive up to Pahalgam by way of Avantipura and the saffron fields of Pampore, spends a full day in Gulmarg, and finishes in Srinagar. Short, well paced, and the right length if this is your first time in the valley.

Trip highlights

  • Avantipura Ruins on the drive to Pahalgam
  • Saffron fields of Pampore, in season
  • Betaab Valley and Aru Valley
  • Gulmarg meadows and the Gondola
  • Apharwat Peak, weather permitting
  • Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh
  • Dal Lake, Srinagar
  • Pari Mahal, if time allows

Day by day

Timings shift with flights, weather and road conditions. We plan around that rather than promising a fixed clock.

Day 1

Arrival in Srinagar, on to Pahalgam

You are met at Srinagar airport and driven straight up to Pahalgam, the Valley of Shepherds, roughly 90 km and two to two and a half hours depending on traffic. The road runs through orchards and open countryside, and we stop along the way. Check in, then the evening is yours — the local market, a walk by the Lidder, or nothing at all after a travel day.

  • Avantipura Ruins
  • Pampore saffron fields, seasonal
  • Betaab Valley, optional
  • Aru Valley, optional

Overnight — Hotel, Pahalgam

Meals — Dinner

Day 2

Pahalgam morning, then back to Srinagar

A deliberately slow morning in Pahalgam rather than an early start — this is the quietest stop on the itinerary and worth sitting in. After breakfast and check-out we drive back to Srinagar and check in. The evening is free for the old city, the markets, or the lake.

Overnight — Hotel, Srinagar

Meals — Breakfast and dinner

Day 3

Full day in Gulmarg

After breakfast we drive out to Gulmarg, about two hours through the valley, and spend the day there. The meadows are the draw in summer; in winter the same ground is under snow and snow activities run. Gondola Phase 1 is included, subject to availability and weather; Phase 2 towards Apharwat is at additional cost. Back to Srinagar in the evening.

  • Gulmarg meadows
  • Gondola Phase 1, included
  • Apharwat Peak via Phase 2, at additional cost
  • Snow activities in winter

Overnight — Hotel, Srinagar

Meals — Breakfast and dinner

Day 4

Srinagar sightseeing and departure

After breakfast and check-out, how much you see depends on your flight. With a reasonable departure time there is room for the Mughal gardens and the lake before the airport transfer. With an early flight we simply get you there in good time rather than rushing a garden.

  • Shalimar Bagh
  • Nishat Bagh
  • Dal Lake
  • Pari Mahal, time permitting

What to expect, what to pack

Kashmir runs colder and later in the day than most visitors expect.

Layers, not one heavy coat

Mornings and evenings are cold well into spring. Layers handle a valley floor at 20°C and Gulmarg at 4°C on the same day.

Proper shoes

Grip matters more than warmth on wet meadow and loose ground. Trainers are fine in summer, waterproof boots from November.

Winter, November to March

Thermals, a windproof outer layer, gloves, a warm hat and waterproof footwear. Gulmarg is materially colder than Srinagar.

Sun protection

High-altitude sun is stronger than it feels, and snow doubles it. Sunscreen and sunglasses year round.

Medication

Carry what you need for the whole trip. Pharmacies exist in Srinagar but not reliably in the valleys.

Cash

Card acceptance is patchy outside Srinagar. Carry some cash for local rides, markets and tips.

Cancellation, in short

  • 15 days or more before departure — the ₹5,000 per person booking amount is non-refundable; anything paid beyond it is refunded
  • 7 to 14 days before departure — 50% of the total trip cost is charged
  • Less than 7 days before departure — 100% of the total trip cost is charged
  • No-show, or cancellation after the trip has started — no refund
  • Cancellation requests must be in writing, by email or WhatsApp. The date of the written request decides which band applies.

This is a summary. The full terms and cancellation policy govern your booking.
