Between roughly December and March the valley changes completely. Gulmarg becomes a working snow-sport destination, the sightseeing routes look nothing like they do in summer, and what is open on any given week depends on snowfall and road conditions.

How a winter booking works

Winter supply in Kashmir is genuinely variable. Rather than take money for a trip we have not confirmed, we work request-first.

    You send the request

    Dates, travellers, ability levels, hotel category and what you want to do on snow.

  2. 02

    We verify availability

    Hotels, houseboats, vehicles, instructors, equipment, lesson slots and lift access for those exact dates.

  3. 03

    You get a written quote

    A full itinerary, hotel category, complete inclusions and exclusions, the booking amount and how long the price holds.

  4. 04

    You confirm and pay

    Only once you accept the quote do we collect the booking amount, by bank transfer or UPI. The balance follows 15 days before departure for group trips, or on the date in your quote.

We do not mark a trip as confirmed when you submit a form, and we do not ask for full payment before availability is verified. Group departures need a minimum of 6 confirmed travellers to run. Full terms and cancellation schedule.

Every ability level, not just beginners

Ski and snowboard trips are built around the levels in your group, including groups where everyone rides differently. You pick a level per participant on the enquiry form, and instructor allocation and slope planning follow from that.

If you are not sure where you sit, choose Not sure and the trip coordinator will suggest a level with you.

First-timer

Has never skied or snowboarded before.

Beginner

Can use basic equipment and may be learning balance, stopping and simple turns.

Intermediate

Can link turns independently and wants to improve technique, confidence and terrain control.

Advanced

Experienced rider or skier seeking challenging terrain, subject to conditions, qualifications and local safety requirements.

All-level group

A group containing participants of different ability levels. Instructor allocation and slope planning may need to be separated by level.

Not sure

You would like the instructor or trip coordinator to recommend a suitable level.

Advanced, off-piste and backcountry riding is handled as an enquiry and assessed case by case. We do not currently promise it as an inclusion.

What winter can and cannot be promised

  • Snowfall cannot be guaranteed in any month or any week.
  • Gondola and chairlift operation is weather-dependent and decided locally on the day.
  • Road access between Srinagar and Gulmarg can change at short notice.
  • Some sightseeing points may be closed or unreachable in heavy snow.
  • Final hotels, houseboats and vehicles are subject to availability at the time of confirmation.
  • Lesson slots and instructor allocation depend on who is available in your dates.

Where a planned activity or route is not possible, we offer a practical alternative when one exists. Any refund position follows the written cancellation and force majeure terms, not a verbal assurance.
