The trip

Beyond Srinagar, Gulmarg and Pahalgam lies a quieter, wilder side of Kashmir. This route crosses Razdan Pass into Gurez, one of the valley's most remote Himalayan regions, and gives it two nights: time for Habba Khatoon Peak, the turquoise Kishanganga river and the wooden villages of Tulail Valley. Srinagar sits at either end, with a houseboat night and a Shikara ride on the way out.

Trip highlights

  • Srinagar and Dal Lake
  • One-hour Shikara ride on Dal Lake
  • The drive across Razdan Pass
  • Habba Khatoon Peak
  • The Kishanganga river
  • Tulail Valley
  • Villages around Sheikhpora and Chakpora
  • Wular Lake and Manasbal Lake en route

Day by day

Timings shift with flights, weather and road conditions. We plan around that rather than promising a fixed clock.

Day 1

Arrival and Srinagar sightseeing

You are received at Srinagar airport and assisted with transfers. Depending on arrival time, the day begins with key sights in Srinagar before you check in and settle. Flights arriving before 11:30 AM leave comfortable room for this.

Day 2

Srinagar to Gurez, over Razdan Pass

After breakfast the drive north begins, through Bandipora and along Wular Lake, then up to Razdan Pass with wide views of the surrounding ranges. The pass marks the crossing into Gurez. The road continues to Dawar, the main settlement of the valley, where you check in and rest after a long day on the road.

Handpicked hotels, confirmed at quote. Gurez properties are simple mountain stays rather than hotels in the city sense, and that is part of the trip. The last night is a deluxe category houseboat on Dal Lake. If availability changes, a property of similar category is provided and you are told before arrival.

What to expect, what to pack

Kashmir runs colder and later in the day than most visitors expect.

Warm layers in every season

A jacket or windcheater and a fleece. Razdan Pass and Gurez are well above Srinagar and cool quickly in the evening, even in summer.

Walking shoes

Comfortable, with grip. Village paths in Tulail are uneven.

Sun protection

Sunglasses and sunscreen. Altitude sun is stronger than it feels.

Medication

Carry everything you need. There are no reliable pharmacies in Gurez.

Limited signal

Mobile network is limited or intermittent in parts of the valley. Let family know you may be out of reach.

Photo ID

Carry valid government-issued photo ID throughout. Gurez is a border area and checks are routine.

Cancellation, in short

  • 15 days or more before departure — the ₹5,000 per person booking amount is non-refundable; anything paid beyond it is refunded
  • 7 to 14 days before departure — 50% of the total trip cost is charged
  • Less than 7 days before departure — 100% of the total trip cost is charged
  • No-show, or cancellation after the trip has started — no refund
  • Cancellation requests must be in writing, by email or WhatsApp. The date of the written request decides which band applies.

This is a summary. The full terms and cancellation policy govern your booking.
